The Search Process

How does a search get started?

Getting started takes only about 15 minutes. One of our Account Executives meets with (or calls) the direct hiring manager to learn about the assignment and its requirements. Our AE will ask the client multiple questions covering nine key topics, then prepare a job description and requisition. Our recruiters take it from there to find the best consultants for the job.

How many resumes do you typically send for each search?

Gardner Resources is not a resume factory; we don't just press a button and shoot out 20 resumes from our database. Our goal is to send no more than three highly qualified, pre-screened candidates for each search.

How large is your database and how often is it updated?

We have 14,000+ pre-screened technical consultants in our database, which is updated daily as we screen new senior IT talent.

How do you ensure your consultants' resumes accurately reflect their background?

Our experienced technical recruiters interview candidates face-to-face and on the phone. We follow up with a minimum of two reference checks of current/previous managers of these individuals. If someone is misrepresenting his or her skills, we'll find out.

I've had mixed results when making an offer to senior IT candidates. I think they're going to say “yes,” and then they take another job. Can you help ensure a successful offer?

Absolutely. When you partner with Gardner Resources Consulting you benefit from our expertise in the complete hiring process, including making the offer and having it accepted. Gardner Resources has a 96% offer-to-acceptance ratio.

How do you maintain objectivity if you work with both the client and the consultant?

Our success is based on our clients' success. With our 40 hour guarantee, clients don't pay Gardner Resources if, after a full week of work, the consultant does not work out. So it's in our best interest to make a match both sides will be happy with.

During the Engagement

What steps do you take if a consultant isn't the right match?

Our proactive placement approach is designed to anticipate or head off any problems that might develop. An orientation process gets each assignment off on the right foot. Our staff checks in with the client and the consultant regularly and acts on that feedback.

However, if a placement doesn't work out, we will do everything we can to either fix the problem or quickly find a new consultant. Our Principals oversee all placements and, if appropriate, one may become personally involved in problem resolution.

What if the project scope or skill requirements change during the engagement? Can we switch consultants?

Of course. In fact, that's one of the key benefits of working with contractors. We offer staffing flexibility that enables you to change consultants or augment your team at a moment's notice.

Can we hire a consultant for a full-time job?

Yes, Gardner Resources follows established industry standards for full-time placement. Please contact your account executive regarding fees.
