Happy New Year! The year has opened with significant uncertainty in the overall economy which has translated to a lack of clear direction for most of the IT organizations we contacted. Virtually every IT manager reports uncertainty in their 2009 budgets. There exists a distinct "wait and see" approach to planning for IT initiatives in 2009. While we have not seen wholesale layoffs, we have also not seen a great deal of new positions and projects receiving funding. This lack of movement has created a sense of stagnation in the local IT employment market. In view of the rising unemployment rate in many other sectors of our economy, perhaps we should thank our lucky stars!!

This system had largely been replaced throughout the business community by a more robust application. Our client chose not to replace its system owing to much higher costs and the major operational disruptions that such a migration would create for both its staff and its clients.
