The Search Process
Q: How does a search get started?
A: Getting started takes only about 15 minutes. One of our Account Executives meets with (or calls) the direct hiring manager to learn about the assignment and its requirements. Our AE will ask the client multiple questions covering nine key topics, and then prepares a job description and requisition. Our Recruiters take it from there to find the best candidate for the job.
Q: How many resumes do you typically send for each search?
A: Gardner Resources Consulting is not a "resume factory" seeking to inundate you with resumes. Our goal is to send no more than three highly qualified, vetted candidates for each search.
Q: How large is your database and how often is it updated?
A: We have 18,400 pre-screened consultants in our database, which is updated daily as we screen new senior IT talent. The overwhelming majority of these are locally based consultants with excellent track records.
Q: How do you ensure your consultants' resumes accurately reflect their background?
A: Our experienced technical recruiters interview candidates face-to-face and on the phone. We follow up with a minimum of two detailed reference checks of current and recent managers for each individual. We ask specific questions about the skills required for your position. Our extensive vetting process is very successful in weeding out exaggerations or misrepresentations.
Q: I've had mixed results when making an offer to senior IT candidates. I think they're going to say “yes,” and then they take another job. Can you help ensure a successful offer?
A: Absolutely. When you partner with Gardner Resources Consulting you benefit from our expertise in the complete hiring process, including making the offer and having it accepted. Gardner Resources Consulting has a 96% offer-to-acceptance ratio. You won't waste your time interviewing and offering positions to candidates who will turn them down.
Q: How do you maintain objectivity if you work with both the client and the consultant?
A: Our success is based on our clients’ successes. With our 40 hour guarantee, clients don't pay Gardner Resources Consulting if, after a full week of work, the consultant does not work out. So it's in our best interest to make a match both sides will be happy with.
During the Engagement
Q: What steps do you take if a consultant isn't the right match?
A: Our proactive placement approach is designed to anticipate or head off any problems that might develop. we conduct an on-site, first day candidate orientation to get each assignment off on the right foot. Our staff formally checks in with the client and the consultant on regularly scheduled times to gauge their satisfaction, progress, and problem solve any performance challenge.
If a placement doesn't work out, however, we will do everything we can to either fix the problem or quickly find a new consultant. Our executive team oversees all placements and, if appropriate, one may become personally involved in problem resolution.
Q: What if the project scope or skill requirements change during the engagement? Can we switch consultants?
A: Of course. In fact, that's one of the key benefits of working with contractors. We offer staffing flexibility that enables you to change consultants or augment your team at a moment's notice.
Q: Can we hire a consultant for a full-time job?
A: Yes. Gardner Resources Consulting follows established industry standards for full-time placement. Please contact your Account Executive regarding fees.
Fee Structure and Compensation
Q: What are your rates?
A: Our consultants’ hourly rates vary by skill level and experience. We work with our clients at the outset to determine their budgeting limits and then match their requirements to those consultants within that range.

A: Gardner Resources Consulting pays the consultant and handles all issues regarding tax and benefits.
