We are seeking a Backend Software Engineer (PHP) for a long-term contract with potential to extend or convert (Remote role)

Seeking a motivated and collaborative Backend Software Engineer specializing in PHP to support our FedRAMP-compliant SaaS platform. This role involves developing secure, scalable server-side applications, implementing robust APIs, and ensuring efficient database operations. You’ll work closely with leadership during a key transitional period to take ownership of backend development, deployment automation, and documentation practices. Your work directly supports audits, vendor assessments, and platform reliability.

Qualifications:

3–5 years PHP backend development experience (Laravel preferred).
Familiarity with REST API design, authentication protocols, and secure endpoint development.
Experience maintaining systems developed by external vendors or contractors.
Strong grasp of database design and performance tuning (MySQL/PostgreSQL).
Familiarity with CI/CD tools, Linux-based deployment, and AWS services.
Comfortable creating technical documentation for infrastructure, endpoints, and data flows.
Self-sufficient, structured, and disciplined in remote work environments.

Work Environment:

Remote, US-based work during core hours (8AM–6PM EST).
Daily code commits and use of Jira, Confluence, and Git-based workflows.
Encouraged use of AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude) for code generation, documentation, and testing.
