Our client  is seeking a hands-on ABAP Developer with experience leveraging SAP AI capabilities. This role combines strong ABAP development skills with the ability to integrate, optimize, and extend AI-driven functionality within SAP S/4HANA Finance. The ideal candidate will support finance-related applications and processes while driving innovation with SAP Business AI and emerging intelligent technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain ABAP programs, enhancements, and interfaces to support financial applications.

  • Integrate SAP AI capabilities (e.g., Joule, Business AI) into ABAP solutions to optimize processes like financial close, forecasting, reconciliations, and reporting.

  • Collaborate with finance stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver scalable, high-performing solutions.

  • Optimize and refactor legacy ABAP code for performance, security, and maintainability.

  • Leverage AI-assisted tools for code generation, debugging, and unit testing.

  • Support system upgrades, patches, and new SAP Finance features (S/4HANA, Group Reporting, etc.).

  • Ensure compliance with data security, governance, and audit requirements when embedding AI into financial processes.

Required Skills

  • 8+ years of experience as an SAP ABAP Developer.

  • Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Finance modules.

  • Exposure to SAP AI/Business AI tools (e.g., Joule copilot, AI-assisted ABAP development, integration of AI/ML APIs).

  • Strong experience with ABAP Objects, CDS Views, AMDP, OData services, and BAPIs.

  • Experience integrating ABAP with external services (REST APIs, AI/ML SDKs).

  • Solid understanding of financial processes (Record-to-Report, Consolidations, Forecasting).

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to performance tuning and debugging.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) integration.

  • Background in SAP Group Reporting, BPC, or Consolidations.

  • Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks outside of SAP (Azure, GCP, Python ML models).

  • Previous experience embedding AI in audit, compliance, or financial automation use cases.
